Britney Spears Eyed For Vegas Residency As “Femme Fatale”

Britney Spears is looking forward to hitting the road on her Femme Fatale Summer Tour, but the pop princess will be spending a lot more time on the stage if Sin City wheelers and dealers get their way. Every since Brit rocked the house — with a little help from Jersey Shore star Pauly D — in a surprise show at The Palms Las Vegas last weekend, the pop star is reportedly being courted by various hotels and casinos on The Strip, who are interested in inking Spears to join Celine Dion as the latest platinum-selling powerhouse to secure a headlining show.

“Vegas moguls are holding meetings to secure Britney for a permanent show,” says a Spears insider, who claims chats could be finalized after Brit wraps up her trek around North America. “If she performed in Vegas on a regular basis, it would attract loads of fans to the city. She’d bring in so much revenue. There’s no doubt she would be offered at least as much as country star Garth Brooks, who signed a $100 million deal and has been selling out shows in Vegas since 2009. Britney would be an even bigger draw.”

If she decides to follow in the footsteps of other music greats who have invaded Vegas — including Elton John and Cher — Spears could pocket an astronomical $100 million, sources say.

Meanwhile, the “Hold It Against Me” hitmaker is poised to topple Chris Brown’s first No. 1 debut F.A.M.E. from the top of the Billboard 200 next week when her seventh studio album — Femme Fatale — premieres atop the charts, Billboard reported Thursday. The disc will likely nab the top spot on the Billboard 200 next week with approximately 280,000 copies of her album estimated to be sold by Tuesday, April 3, according to early projections. A far cry from the 500,000 premiere for her Circus album just two years ago, Femme Fatale is none the less likely to earn the second place spot for largest sales week of 2011. Only Adele’s sophomore album, 21, which sold 352,000 copies during its initial week of release last month has done better.

If Brit pulls off a sixth No. 1 debut, she’ll join superstars Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson in a three-way tie for third-most No. 1 albums, Billboard reported. Madonna follows with seven charttopping albums. The current record-holder? Barbra Streisand, who tops the list with nine No. 1 debut discs.
